Jesus is THE Way

In John 14:6 Jesus makes a bold statement. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

The Way is defined as a way, road, journey, path, mode or means. Jesus is THE road, journey, path, mode or means to experiencing the Father’s Love, Life, and sonship as a child of God. The road is significant because how we walk, by taking steps from one place to another determines the life or death we will experience in it. Jesus stabilizes our journey by being the road we walk on. He laid down His life for us so he could lay down His life in us. (John15:13)

Luke 3:4-6

“The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make His paths straight.
Every valley shall be filled
And every mountain and hill brought low;
The crooked places shall be made straight
And the rough ways smooth;
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’ ”

Jesus is the one who keeps us on the road as our salvation, our steps are made possible when we face the impossible that life in this world may throw at us. He is the only way to experiencing the abundant Life that the Father has for us. Taking the next step keeps you walking on the road. Taking on unforgiveness, offense, a poor experience, or anything that would harden your heart are steps that walk you off into a ditch, no longer walking in the Way. Until you humble yourself, in the beliefs of your heart, back to God’s Word, you may not take another step in that area of your life with God. God wants you to stay on that road walking balanced in Grace and Faith (Ephesians 2:8).  Walking in the extreme of (faith in) Truth becomes a ditch of legalism and is just plain mean to others. Walking in the extreme Grace becomes a ditch of lawlessness and is meaningless. The Truth of God and the Love of God support one another just like the Word of God and the Spirit of God. Both working together is how we experience His life and all aspects of our salvation.

The Good news is Jesus has become that road. He is the very mode and means by which we must walk to experience salvation no matter what we face in this life.  No one can experience the Love of the Father apart from Him. It is to be experienced in Him, with Him, because of Him. Keep walking with God. Jesus gives direction to what we are walking towards in experiencing Him in a greater capacity. This takes knowing the Word and following the Holy Spirit as he leads us in our steps.

The Truth is defined as true to fact or reality, universally what is true in any matter under consideration. Jesus is the only Reality that has significance. The Truth is always absolute but applying it is personal to the condition of ones heart beliefs at the time. Intellectually knowing a bible verse doesn’t make you free. Experiencing Jesus as the Word frees your heart.

John 8:32 says And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Experiencing Jesus as the Truth is predicated on abiding in His Word and through personal experience, first hand acquaintance and intimacy with Jesus as the Word. That kind of intimate knowing and experience frees you to walk and take steps because you are persuaded of His Love in your heart beyond the circumstances, emotions, and experiences that would try to tell your heart otherwise. God is so personal that He wants your heart to experience Him as Truth, not just the knowledge about Him being the Truth.

Car Heart-The parable of the flat tire

Jesus taught in parables to create pictures within peoples hearts that they may connect with who He is. No, Jesus didn’t talk about flat tires, but I will attempt to in these next words. There are Truth (universal) principles it takes to drive a car on a road. Having 4 functional tires is one of them. If one of your tires has a flat there are some things that have to happen to change that tire to get you back on the road. You can read your car manual on how to do this. You may have the head knowledge to do so. But actually putting the manual into practice takes doing what it says to do; In other words putting into action those instructions properly to be effective in changing the tire. You see the car is like the heart, the flat tire may represent a bad belief of the heart that needs to be changed. Although there is a universal truth to keeping 4 functional tires on your car to keep driving, changing the tires is unique to that car or heart. You can know from the car manual how to change a tire, but it is a unique experience with each car (heart). Different cars have different sized tires, storage, jacks that support the car, number of lug nuts,  lug nut keys unique to that car (heart). But the Universal absolute truth of changing the flat tire (beliefs of the heart) don’t always work car to car because of the uniqueness of the design of that car and its tires. The moral of the story being that the truth is absolute but how you apply it is always personal and unique to that persons heart and situation. Jesus is so personal and intimate and wants you to experience His best to walk you out of death and into life.

Jesus is the Word (Logos) of God. John 1:1-16 He is the Word made flesh full of Grace and Truth from the beginning and receiving Him makes us sons. That means Jesus walked in such a way as an example and becoming the road, means, mode and way for us that we can experience first hand the love, logic, intent, and character of God. That means we take on and begin to look like God’s love, think how God thinks, are motivated by His desires, and take on His character to the world we interact with.

God has given us both His Word and Spirit to guide (lead our steps) and to produce evidence (testify) both verbally and experientially that Jesus is our Lord and Savior! This  creates and establishes a witness in persuading our hearts that what Jesus did on our behalf is real and alive now!

Jesus said in John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

John 15:26  “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.

The Life is defined as the the state of one who is possessed with vitality and is animate, the quality of life of the one who gives it.  Come dwell with Jesus as the Word that you may experience walking in Freedom!

Colossians 2:6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,
